K2 Big Mtn CHILL Series - Mt Olympus 2008 Perfection

We are super amped for the K2 Big Mountain CHILL Series, with loads of terrain and good snow to indulge in a chilled out atmosphere that is uniquely Craigieburn and Mt Olympus.  Below are all the details, and more.

The K2 Big Mountain CHILL Series runs from Weds 26th Aug to Sunday 30th August.  Five days of skiing and riding in the Craigieburn Range, with a solid comp and a solid crew.  Bring fresh snow with you and a quiver of skis/boards and crew to chill. This event is also a qualifing event for the Freeride World Tour.

We start with two days of competition at Craigieburn Valley on Wednesday and Thursday.  Friday is a weather day and travel day. On Saturday and Sunday the Series continues at Mt Olympus. Both events are almost full for athletes.  There are a few spaces for CV and standby places at MO.  Confirmation of new registrations at MO is subject to available spaces and only on the day of comp.

In 2009 we have great cover over both mountains, with local conditions on the day determining where and what skiing and riding will take place.  Both mountains offer a combination of varied terrain on South and North aspects.

The format for both mountain events is 2 runs per day over two days, with the top 3 scoring runs carried.  Any variation to this will be determined based on prevailing weather and snow conditions.

All competitors need to be on location at the day lodge CV/MO at 9am on the day ready for a 9:30am briefing for the event. The briefing is compulsory as it covers critical information for the day regarding safety and snow and weather conditions. Competitors will be advised of the rules, judges, boundaries, safety and where to start.

All updates on each day’s events/activities will be advised via CSA Snow Phone 03 383 8888 ex 07 for CV or 04 for MO and each mountains web snow reports.

Accommodation is available in the mountains, bookings are highly recommended.
